Tell me more...The position will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive, effective health care service responsive to the specific needs of children from birth to twelve years. It also provides an advisory resource for the TCHHS and manages the immunisation program for Cooktown. The Child Health program is committed to the provision of health care based on the principles of primary health.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • The provisions of proficient clinical care, meeting exacting standards of best practice and aimed at achieving expected outcomes in the following areas:
  • Monitor the progress of infant/children and make appropriate referrals.
  • Support, educate and promote parenting role and maintenance of family well being.
  • Participate in school screening, health promotion and human relationship programs.
  • Coordinate immunisation program.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties. Current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a registered nurse and current practising certificate is mandatory.
  • Post graduate endorsement in Child Health and Immunisation Endorsement.
  • It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (Health Employment Directive No. 12/21(PDF) ( [***] ) and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70 ( [***] )).
