The Location:
Our client is situated on one of Australias most beautiful coastal locations with idyllic tropical islands on your door step and a relaxed way of life. This is a large regional city with a local population of over 60,000 and a regional population of over 120,000. The local area has a well developed infrastructure and everything you would need and expect from a well developed regional city including great private schools, shopping, restaurants and the beautiful natural tropical surrounds.

The Hospital:
The hospital has recently enjoyed a major $408 Million overhaul and expansion doubling the number of beds to over 300 and increasing the size by 40,000m2 including a new Emergency Department. This is now a state of the art fully modern hospital and one of Australias largest regional healthcare facilities.

The hospital is also accredited for training with a number of the colleges and provides the following specialist services to the local community:

ED, O&G, Paeds, Orthopaedics, Anaesthetics, ICU, Coronary care, Psychiatry, Aged Care, Renal Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Palliative Care & Day Surgery.

The hospital also operates the following clinics: Dermatology, Oncology, Orthopaedic, Neurosurgical, Neurology, Liver, Diabetic, Urology, Surgical, Medical, Renal, Pacemaker, Cardiac, Haematology, Ophthalmology & Wound Management and is also closely affiliated to the local and regional medical school so academic opportunities may be available.

The Department:
This is a level 2 ICU with 10 Intensive Care beds, 1 Isolation room and twelve (12) Telemetry monitors which are managed from ICU. They provide round the Clock Intensivist support with critical care nurses staffing the unit and manage approximately 800 patients per year. The plan for the unit going forward is to add 2 additional beds, gain accreditation so designated ICU Registrar can provide cover which is currently being provided by Unaccredited Medical Registrars.

The Requirements:
To be eligible to apply for this position you should hold the FCICM or be an overseas Intensivist with experience of managing ICU's and have been assessed by the CICM as substantially comparable to an Australian trained Intensivist.
